Public Sector Enterprises Board has recommended Director (Operations) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited P.K. Rath to be the next Chairman and Managing Director of the navratna company.

Mr. Rath, who began his career as a Management Trainee in 1983 in RINL, has served the company in various capacities.

He was one among six short-listed candidates who were invited by PSEB for an interview in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Mr. Rath will take over on June 1. Present incumbent P. Madhusudan will retire on attaining superannuation on May 31.

Other contenders for the top post included RINL Director (Personnel) K.C. Das, Director (Finance) V.V. Venugopal Rao, Executive Directors Paruat Sengupta and R. Natarajan and SAIL Executive Director Alok Sahay.

Mr. Rath had taken charge as the director (operations) after his elevation from executive director (works) on October 10 last year.

He has rich experience in steel-making and continuous casting processes.

Mr. Rath did his degree in engineering from Regional Engineering College (Now NIT), Warangal in metallurgy and MBA in HR and marketing from Andhra University.
