In a suspected suicide pact, a 65-year-old man and his two children died in a cylinder blast at Sagar Nagar under Arilova Police Station limits in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased were identified as Ch. Uma Maheswara Rao and his children Satish Chandra (38) and Lavanya (32), both B.Tech graduates and were unmarried.

Arilova Inspector Kishore Kumar said that the neighbours of Rao heard an explosion in the house of Uma Maheswara Rao. “A fire broke out and thick smoke engulfed the house. The neighbours tried to help the inmates, but in vain. The houses located nearby have also been partially damaged under the impact of the blast,” he said.

Upon being alerted, fire and police officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

Satish and Lavanya, both B.Tech graduates, died on the spot and Uma Maheswara Rao succumbed to burns while undergoing treatment at KGH

‘Note found’

Police sources said that it was a case of suicide as two LPG cylinders were found in the living room, not in the kitchen.

The police said that they found a note in which the victims had written about ending their lives. Preliminary investigation revealed that the family members were upset over various problems, including financial issues.
