The Left parties have extended their support to the strike by students of the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), who are seeking another chance to clear their backlog papers and continuation of hostel accommodation.

The students have been staging a hunger strike on the DSNLU campus at Sabbavaram, on the outskirts of the city, for the past three days. CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy and CPI(M) district committee secretary K. Lokanadham, in separate statements on Sunday, extended their support.

They said a few students, who were detained in the semester examinations, had passed after their answer scripts were evaluated by professors of other law universities. The other detained students were also demanding the same.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the detained students, most of whom were from other States, were given a mere 24-hour notice to vacate the hostel.

Mr. Lokanadham said it was unfortunate that neither the State government nor the Minister for HRD had intervened in the issue though the students were on a hunger strike for the past three days.
