It’s for clean fuel

Visakh Refinery modernisation is mainly envisaged to produce clean fuel catering to the requirement of Bharat Stage-4 and 5 -- drastically reducing sulphur content, HPCL Deputy General Manager (Process) Ratan Raju said.

The plan envisages using state-of-the art technology and construction of new nine-million tonne crude distillation unit (CDU) in lieu of old units, slurry hydro-cracker unit of 2.5 million tonne, solvent de-asphalting unit of 3.1 million tonne and full conversion hydro-cracker unit of 3.3 million tonne.
