Industry to seek Kiran's intervention

‘It is not possible to run plants with relentless agitations'

Representatives of various industries reportedly sought Chief Minister N.Kirankumar Reddy's appointment on Wednesday to explain their problems in the backdrop of agitations in the existing industries and strong opposition to establishment of new projects in the district.

Mr.Kiran Kumar Reddy will participate in Rachabanda programme at Vajrapukotturu on Wednesday and is likely to review the current situation. According to highly placed sources, senior executives of a major industry took the initiative to form an association in the district so that it would be easy to draw the attention of the government. Relentless agitations have been going on against power projects in Sompeta, Kakarapalli and beach sand mining activity in Vatsavalasa of Gara mandal and Vajrapukotturu mandals. Industrial unrest has become the order of the day in pharmaceutical companies including Dr.Reddy's Laboratory and Aurobindo Pharma in Pydibhimavaram though a truce was announced by workers' unions. JPR Lab decided to establish bulk drug unit in Pharma City of Visakhapatnam after stiff resistance for the project at public hearing held at Phishini village on August 30. “People who are not connected to the issue are agitating against the projects in the district. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure peaceful atmosphere,” said Meka Srinivas of JPR Laboratory.
