Five teams emerged as winners at the ‘She Builds Tech – Smart City Hackathon’ organised by Girls in Tech Foundation in association with APSCHE, Department of Youth Services, Government of Andhra Pradesh, US Consulate General, Hyderabad and Andhra University.

The ideas that won were ‘Nano Sol’ - a solar energy harnessing paint, a water grid solution system, geo fencing, ‘Intelligent Ambi’ – a smart ambulance service and ‘Tour Gel’ –convenient routing and scheduling for tourist.

The event that spanned across two days saw participation from 300 girls from various engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The theme for the hackathon was organised in four topics - collaborative governance, digital solutions to improve physical infrastructure, ‘tech naari’ and eco- city.

Meanwhile, Gitam University girl students walked away with hackathon prizes for their innovative ideas at the hackathon.

D. Vilekha, V. Krishna Meghana, S. Swetha, Santoshi Rakshita, R. Shivangi and Nupur Biswas from the university won prizes.

The group created a mobile app that pops up the statistics such as power consumed and efficient utilisation of resources. Principal of GITAM Institute of Technology K. Lakshmi Prasad lauded the efforts made by achievers.
