AU to revive Arabic, Urdu department

Ex-VUDA chief thanks V-C for initiative

Arabic and Urdu department will be revived in Andhra University, according to Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Uttara Andhra Muslims Ikya Vedika at a hotel in the city on Monday, Prof. Nageswara Rao said certificate courses would be introduced in Arabic and Urdu.

The Vice-Chancellor was felicitated by Vedika leaders on the occasion.

Thanking Prof. Nageswara Rao for taking initiative to launch the Arabic and Urdu department, former MLA and former VUDA Chairman SA Rahman urged the Vice-Chancellor to introduce certificate courses in both the languages.

Dr. Rahman also thanked Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for supporting the initiative.

Muslim leaders Iqbal Ahmad and IG Khan and others attended the programme.
