Representatives of the five recognised federations of Port and Dock workers of the major ports submitted a joint memorandum to Visakhapatnam Port Trust seeking setting up of bipartite wage negotiation committee in view of the existing wage revision settlement set to expire this year end.
The representatives of the employees and workers unions affiliated to the five recognised federations HMS, AITUC, INTUC, CITU submitted the joint charter of demands seeking revision of wages, retirement benefits and other service conditions for the group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees of the major ports and dock labour board and dock workers.
The present wage revision settlement signed on October 25, 2013 before the Chief Labour Commissioner (C) Ministry of Labour effective from January 1, 2012 was set to expire on December 31, 2016, the workers’ unions noted and requested that the new settlement be made for five years, according to general secretary United Port and Dock Employee’s Union V.S. Padmanabha Raju in a statement issued here.
