The revenue officials have been asked to hand over 40 acres of government land at Aganampudi, a part of stretches acquired as part of the land-pooling exercise in the Tri Junction area. The land will be utilised by the Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDCO) for affordable housing projects.

Metropolitan Commissioner P. Basanth Kumar, along with GVMC Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan and revenue officials, visited the site on Friday.

“Nine people were found to be in possession of a part of the 43 acres inspected on Friday. They need to be given alternative land if the entire stretch is allotted for housing. Even if the stretch is excluded, 40 acres can be utilised for the housing project,” Mr. Basanth Kumar said. Before the TIDCO undertakes the project, revenue officials need to hand over the land to the VMRDA. Sketches demarcating boundaries need to be made for the land to be handed over to VMRDA which in turn will give it to the TIDCO.

Tendering process

To further advance the land-pooling exercise, the VMRDA need to examine the consent letters to ascertain the claims made by the ‘encroachers’ who are willing to part with the land and dispose of the objections filed by those who are not ready to participate as of now.

As the TIDCO has begun calling for the tenders, the land need to be handed over soon, sources said.

Mr. Basanth Kumar exuded confidence that land at Aganampudi could be handed over in a week. Visakhapatnam RDO Tej Bharat, Chief Urban Planner of GVMC R.J. Vidhullata, VMRDA Estate Officer Murali, Housing District Manager Prasad and TIDCO representatives participated.
