180 kg ganja seized

Around 180 kg of dry ganja, worth Rs.10 lakh, was seized and two persons were arrested by the officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Murugan of Tamil Nadu and V. Nagaraju of Aganampudi in the district. Excise Inspector, Paderu, P. Srinivasa Rao said that acting on a tip-off, they intercepted a car and seized the contraband and arrested the smugglers.

In another case, Six persons were arrested by the City Task Force (CTF) Police on Saturday on a charge of gambling with playing cards at a public place near Kommadi on the outskirts of the city.

The police also seized Rs.15,300 cash, three mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession.

On a tip-off, the CTF police conducted the raid and arrested them and handed them over to the P.M. Palem police for further probe.
