VMC summer camp for children from May 1

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation’s annual summer camp for children will be conducted from May 1 to 31 at different schools and grounds in the city. This year, in addition to regular sports, officials are also planning to offer training in computers, dancing, painting, classical music and crafts and arts.

While the camps would be conducted for free to students of municipal schools, nominal fee would be collected from other schools students. Corporation’s Traffic and Sports Committee conducted a meeting here on Monday and instructions have been issued to physical education teachers in the schools to create awareness among parents and ensure smooth conduct of the camps.

Committee chairman Chennupati Gandhi urged students to make best use of the opportunity, said a press release.Meanwhile, Mayor Koneru Sridhar laid foundation for construction of a community hall at H block, Vambay Colony, Rajiv Swagruha. The community hall will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh and would benefit 12,000 residents.
