With Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu scheduled to open his camp office at the Irrigation Building in Governorpet here on Saturday, the Krishna district administration ordered removal of a huge hoarding at PWD Grounds in addition to a few traffic signals nearby.

Instructions have been issued to ensure smooth landing for Mr. Naidu’s chopper near PWD Grounds. The grounds would be used as a helipad for the CM’s helicopter during emergency, said Collector Babu A. on Friday. Orders to remove 11 KV electrical lines have also been issued. Officials have taken up renovation works to suit the requirements of the Chief Minister and his security detail. A team of senior police officials from Hyderabad recently visited the Irrigation Superintending Engineer’s camp office and took stock of the situation.

The City Police have already conducted a security audit of the premises and sent a report to the government. “Except for beautification and flooring works, we have completed the core work,” Mr. Babu said. In all, the administration has spent Rs. 9 crore, including Rs. 6 crore on security and internal works and Rs.2.5 crore for sewerage and water relating works. “We will be completing the pending works within 20 days,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police are maintaining a constant vigil on those visiting the office. “We are allowing employees and visitors only after frisking them thoroughly,” a senior official said, adding that the traffic movement was regulated and public is restricted on the roads leading to the office.
