PG medical counselling from today at NTRUHS

The first phase of counselling for admission into post-graduate medical degree and diploma courses for 2015-16 will commence at NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) here on April 29. Candidates qualified in Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET)-2015 are eligible to participate in the counselling which is common for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The counselling is being conducted for a total of 1,860 seats (1,193 non-service, 667 service and 61 State-wide seats) up to May 7 for 8,992 candidates who have qualified in PGMET.

Announcing this in a press conference along with Registrar S. Babulal here on Tuesday, NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor T. Ravi Raju said Osmania University (OU) has the highest number of non-service and service seats at 507 and 280 respectively and it is followed by Andhra University (AU) with 430 non-service and 236 service seats and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) with 220 and 126 non-service and service seats respectively.

OU, AU and SVU have 3693, 3037 and 1963 candidates who qualified in the entrance test held on March 1, 2015. The process of admissions was supposed to be completed by May 15 and the second phase counselling was planned to be conducted from June 1. Dr. Ravi Raju said there was absolutely no scope for doubts about the seat matrix which was jointly worked out by the Directors of Medical Education and the Secretaries of A.P and Telangana. Candidates have to remit non-refundable counselling fee (Rs 2,000) and university fee (Rs 15,600 for government colleges and Rs 20,600 for private colleges) in the form of demand drafts.

Only original certificates have to be produced for scrutiny. In addition to the deployment of police personnel for preventing any untoward incident, closed circuit cameras were being installed to monitor the movements of candidates and others at the venue.
