Hunger strike by TDP today

Published - September 13, 2011 11:50 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The TDP city unit will launch a day's hunger strike to demand repair of the roads in One Town and construction of a flyover to resolve the traffic problems.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, TDP city leader Buddha Venkanna said that more than one lakh people living in HB Colony, Bhavanipuram, Sitara Junction, and One Town area experience untold hardship to cross Kummaripalem centre. The government made umpteen promises to the people here that their problems would be addressed.

Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy was building castles in air with his assurances that a cantilever bridge would be constructed by Dasara festival this year. However, the proposals remained only on paper, and the people continue to suffer. To highlight these issues, the TDP would take out a rally in One Town, and observe hunger strike near Kummaripalem centre on Tuesday. TDP polit bureau member K. Yerran Naidu would address the gathering in the evening, he added.
