The visit of American billionaire, philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft Corporation Bill Gates has created a lot of expectation among the denizens who have taken to the microblogging site Twitter to express their feelings.
Mr. Gates will attend the valedictory of the three-day AP Ag Tech Summit on November 17 during his brief visit from Lucknow. The event is being organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the State government.
The A.P. Development Forum has received good response from the denizens who pinned high hopes on his visit along with his wife Melinda.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is expected to announce a major grant to give a boost to agriculture.
Ramesh Kolluru, a city resident, tweeted: “Hearty welcome to vibrant Vizag, India’s 8th largest GDP contributing city & third cleanest.”
M. Simhachalam, another citizen, said: “hope he will declare necessary help to AP for development of agriculture. “Telugu farmers need latest skills in farming. An agri TV channel will help,” tweeted T. Sridhar.
Benjamin Addom, an expert who is attending the summit, tweeted: “I will be sharing experience in using ICT to solve local challenges for farmers of Africa.”
Varun said he was excited to participate in the event.
Vizag Development Forum vice-president O. Naresh Kumar said the visit and the thrust of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in combining technology with agriculture would surely lead to the right focus on improving organic food production.
