The Andhra Pradesh Tourism has announced Annual Tourism Excellence Awards 2015-16. The last date for filing entries is August 18. The winners will be awarded on World Tourism Day on September 27.
The Day is celebrated globally to foster awareness of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. As the official day set aside in the United Nations Calendar, the celebration seeks to highlight tourism’s potential to contribute to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing some of the most pressing challenges society is faced with today.
The theme for 2016 is “Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility.” Accessible tourism is about the creation of environments that can cater to the needs of all of us, whether we are travelling or staying at home.
The awards will be presented to classified hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators, writers, educational institutions, etc., in recognition of their performance in their respective fields and also to encourage healthy competition to promote tourism.
The entries should have been published or the activities organised during April 2015 to March 2016.
The awards will be given to all the segments of the industry recognised either by the Central Government or State Government, travel agents, tour operators, classified hotels including heritage hotels, restaurants and independent hotels.
