Two teachers killed in road accident

Two teachers lost their lives in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a goods carrier near Pattukottai on Tuesday afternoon.

Prabakar, 28, of Pattukottai and Senthilnathan, 33, of Thanjavur, who were teachers at Government Higher Secondary School, Rajamadam, were travelling towards Pattukottai after school hours when the incident took place. The motorcycle driven by Prabakar collided with a goods carrier at Naduvikadu. Senthilnathan died on the spot.

Prabakar, who sustained grievous injuries was rushed to Thanjavur Medical College hospital in a private ambulance. But the ambulance was involved in an accident near Thennamanadu as the driver, Rajamohammed, lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting a cow that crossed the carriage way suddenly.

Subsequently, Prabakar was brought to Orathanadu government hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
