The Thiyagarajar Bhagavathar mandram, known as Kalaiarangam, has transformed into a large marriage hall.

The decision to convert the once-popular movie screen into a marriage hall with a seating capacity of 1,700 persons was taken by the District Welfare Fund Committee earlier this year due to difficulties faced in leasing. The project was undertaken at a cost of ₹2 crore.

Collector K. Rajamani, who is the Chairman of the District Welfare Fund Committee, inaugurated the air-conditioned marriage hall on Wednesday in the presence of the treasurer Sevai Govindarajan.

The marriage hall is equipped with a dining space with a capacity to accommodate 350 persons in one sitting.
