Continuous bubble of water in a large well in Valapirankadu panchayat in Peravurani block has prompted the district administration to look into the cause.

After visiting the spot on Thursday, Collector A. Annadurai directed officials of the Department of Geology to undertake a scientific study. He was accompanied by revenue and fire and rescue services officials.

Singaram, owner of the field where the well was located, told officials that he sunk a borewell for 100 feet in 1982 in the 40-foot-well. The officials learnt that the bubbles were noticed in the last month.
