The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) S.Jayapandian on Tuesday handed over a cheque for Rs.10,000 under the victim assistance fund to Anuradha who sustained multiple injuries after being attacked in Ponmalai area here a few days ago. The assistance was given at the City Police Office.

The Ponmalai police had registered a case under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) on a complaint preferred by Anuradha who was intercepted while riding a two-wheeler and attacked with aruval on her head, face and hands by two persons who fled after carrying out the offence. She was admitted to the Government Headquarters hospital here.

A special police team was constituted on the direction of the Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav to apprehend two more accused in connection with the case.

The release said the special team arrested Raja alias ‘Nettai' Raja and Kasi alias Marudakasi on Monday who were later remanded in judicial custody.
