Prospects of self-employment highlighted at awareness camp

The three-day entrepreneurship awareness camp organised jointly by the Department of Commerce of Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Pudukottai, concluded on Thursday.

S. Ganesan, joint director, District Industries Centre, explained various government schemes and programmes aimed at helping the prospective entrepreneurs. Self-employment offered bright prospects and the youth should opt for self-employment ventures, said S. Prithiviraj, president, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Association, Pudukottai, who was the chief guest.

He underlined the importance of entrepreneurs in the overall development of the nation and society.

M. Chitra, joint manager, Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC), spoke on the role of financial institutions in the promotion of industrial scenario of the country.

The students were taken to Balamurugan Engineering Industries as a field visit, and M. Jayakumar cleared various doubts raised by the students on the successful running of industrial ventures. Mr. Prithiviraj released a CD on entrepreneurship. J. Radhika, principal, presided. M. Pichaimani, vice principal, and Lathasri, head, Department of Commerce, offered felicitations.
