Nursing students and sanitary workers attached to the Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital took up mass cleaning of their campus on the World Quality Day on Thursday.

The students and sanitary workers cleared the wild growths that had sprung up adjacent to the hospital buildings following the recent rain and also cleaned the hospital interiors. While doing so they educated the caretakers of the patients on the need to keep the hospital premises neat and clean.

Inaugurating the mass cleaning exercise, District Revenue Officer N. Sakthivel pointed out that cleanliness should start from home. He also distributed brooms, face masks, gloves and garbage collection bags to the sanitary workers on the occasion.

The TMC dean (in-charge) Dr. Ravikumar, Thanjavur tahsildar Venkateswaran and others participated in the mass cleaning exercise.
