Jewellery stolen from doctor’s residence

Fifty sovereigns of gold jewellery, diamond ear studs and ₹50,000 cash was reported stolen from a doctor’s house at Muthupillai Mandapam near Kumbakonam on Saturday.

Lakshmikanthan of Prasanth Nagar in Muthupillai Mandapam, along with his family members, left their house in the morning to take part in a private job mela in Kumbakonam for securing placement for his daughter.

When he returned home in the evening, the front doors of his house was found broke open and the almirah ransacked. Subsequently, Lakshmikanthan lodged a complaint with Nachiyarkovil police.

The police have registered a case.
