Domestic air connectivity is expected to get a push from the Rock City with the Bengaluru-based Fly Easy evincing interest in operating flights on the Bengaluru-Tiruchi-Bengaluru sector.

A top-level executive of Fly Easy is scheduled to hold discussions today with the Tiruchi Airport Director and senior officers in connection with operating flight services from Tiruchi to the country’s IT city.

Airport sources told The Hindu that the airline was planning to operate an Embraer 190 aircraft with 110 seats. Indications are that the services would be operated in the afternoon in both directions.

The meeting comes at a time when the demand for increasing domestic connectivity from the fast growing Tiruchi airport to different key destinations was on the rise. At present, there is only one domestic service from Tiruchi with the Jet Airways operating flights from Chennai to Tiruchi and back.

At present, Tiruchi has domestic flight connectivity only to Chennai
