BHEL bags huge order from Telangana

Yadadri Thermal Power Project to be set up in Nalgonda district

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured the single-largest order for setting up a 4,000 MW (5 x 800 MW) thermal power project with supercritical parameters at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district in Telangana from the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO) on engineering, procurement, and construction basis. The project named as Yadadri Thermal Power Project, estimated at Rs. 17,950 crore, is one of the highest value orders placed in the capital goods sector in India, a BHEL release here said.

The project would be carried out on fast track basis with both BHEL and TSGENCO setting up teams to expedite clearances and speedy execution of the project. BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of 5 x 800 MW thermal sets.

The key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at Tiruchi, Hardwar, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Ranipet, Bengaluru, and Jhansi plants of BHEL while the company’s Power Sector Southern Region will be responsible for construction, erection and commissioning of the equipment.
