Special arrangements are being made at the Ammamandapam bathing ghat in Srirangam for the Aadi Perukku festival which falls on August 3.
A large congregation of people are expected to take a holy dip in the Cauvery.
As part of the preparations, the ghat has been cleaned and plastic waste and clothes had been cleared. Stainless waste bins have been put up at the ghat.
The damaged floors at the entrance of the ghats are being repaired.
Sources say that drinking water taps will be installed at four places.
Till now, a borewell catered to the drinking water needs of the people, but now the water is not potable.
A ump is being built at the ghat to provide drinking water through pipelines.
This year, efforts are on to ensure that devotees get uninterrupted supply of water at the bathing showers.
Two electric motors are being installed for pumping water to an overhead tank, from which water will be supplied through the showers.
A sensor has been installed for ensuring the water supply without interruption. Although one motor was adequate, another motor would serve as a standby, sources said. A public address system is being installed, which will be a permanent feature at the bathing ghat.
As part of beautification of the bathing ghat, awareness slogans would be painted on the walls appealing the people to keep the area clean and tidy.
