Street lights installed on Oyamari Road

The Tiruchi City Corporation (TCC) has installed street lights on Oyamari Road linking the Chennai Bypass and the Railway Over Bridge near Mela Chinthamani.

A sum of Rs.36 lakh has been spent for the project to illuminate Oyamari Road for a distance of a km. The project has been completed within a record time of 20 days.

The road users heaved a sigh of relief when the Minister for Tourism Vellamandi N. Natarajan formally switched on the lights at a function on Saturday evening.

A few reports appeared on these columns highlighting the hardship of motorists to drive vehicles on Oyamari Road in night due to absence of street lights.

N. Ravichandran, Commissioner, Tiruchi City Corporation, said that the project had been implemented in two phase. In the first phase, 22 poles were erected at a cost of Rs.19 lakh from the newly built Railway Over Bridge to the petrol bunk near Oyamari crematorium.
