Sector-wise arrangements have been made for devotees to witness the dance extravaganza by 1,000 artistes to be held at the Big Temple here on September 25 as part of the millennium celebrations , said Collector M. S.Shanmugham, here on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters, he said it has been assessed that only 10,000 to 12,000 people could witness the programme inside the temple near Nandhi Mandapam, the venue . Others could enjoy the show through LED screens arranged at three places at the temple complex - Near the lawn adjacent to elephant Mandapam, another between two gopurams at the entrance and the third one at the car parking opposite to the temple.
The artistes would be brought in four buses to the main entrance and allowed inside one hour before the programme . People who would be allowed inside the temple could use any one of the three gates on the three sides of the temple and go out via Sivagangapark.
Buses coming from other places would not be allowed to enter the town on September 25 and 26. For old people, who would arrive at different parking places in the town , auto-rickshaws and share autos would be operated to take them near the temple at reasonable fare. Vehicles would be stopped at Annai Sathya stadium, Selvaraj School, Srinivasapuram and on Kundavai Nachiyar Government Arts College ground.
A website http://www.thanjavur.tn.nic.in/bigtemple/btcontact.html has been created for providing detailed information and a webcast of the programmes has also been planned. Drinking water facility and temporary toilets have been arranged in the town . Nearly 450 to 500 sanitation workers from other districts would be on duty.
On September 26, when the valedictory function would be held on Armed Police grounds, VIP cars would be allowed and parked at the SP's office, government workshop, Tahsildhar office, court complex and Millennium park.
