Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram expressed satisfaction over the implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes in Pudukottai district and instructed the officials and civic bodies to complete all the development works within the stipulated time.
Presiding over the vigilance and monitoring committee meeting of the fourth quarter of 2009-10 at the Collectorate here on Monday, Mr. Chidambaram spent nearly two hours and discussed the implementation of schemes, including rural development works, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee, Indira Awaz Yojana and Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana schemes, Total Sanitation and National Social Welfare projects, computerisation of land record, etc.
Mr. Chidambaram told the banks to provide education loan without delay to the needy students.
He went through the records submitted with regard to implementation of projects.
Collector A.Suganthi, P.Kumar, MP of Tiruchi MP, R.Nedunchezhian, Udayam Shanmugam, Rama.Subburam, S.Rajasekaran and N.Subramanian, MLAs of Pudukottai, Aranthangi, Tirumayam, Alangudi and Kulathur respectively, C. Muthusamy, Pudukottai district panchayat chairman, S.S.Kumar, Project Officer, DRDA, chairman and presidents of local bodies, bank and district officials attended the meeting.
