The Technocity project to be launched by President Ram Nath Kovind at Mangalapuram near here on Friday will mark the development of the country’s biggest futuristic IT park promoting start-up ventures in frontier technologies.
The President is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the first IT building at Technocity. “Technocity is planned not just as another IT park which provides basic IT infrastructure for IT/ITES companies, but as a Centre of Excellence for research and development in emerging technologies like Cognitive Analytics, Fintech, Space Applications, Cybersecurity, and e-Mobility,” Secretary, IT, M. Sivasankar said. “The IT Policy seeks to develop Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode as the three main IT hubs of Kerala for technological development in the areas of Cybersecurity, Block Chain, Fintech, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and mobile-based technologies,” Kerala IT Parks CEO Hrishikesh Nair said in a pressnote.
Knowledge City
“The Knowledge City will have space for new-generation start-ups focussing on research and development,” he added.
CEO, Kerala Start-up Mission Saji Gopinath, said the proposed centres of excellence would involve a tie-up between start-ups, industry, and world-class academic institutions. “As knowledge leader, the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) will play a key role in stitching all these together,” he told The Hindu .
The first IT building planned at Technocity is a signature structure with a built-up area of 2 lakh sq ft and is expected to be completed by 2019 to accommodate the demand for more office space from a large number of small and medium companies located in Technopark. Basic infrastructure developments like road, power, and water have been completed.
TCS campus
Tata Consultancy Services have already begun work on their campus in 97 acres of land in Technocity. Other organisations such as SunTec, IIITM-K, and KASE have been allocated land to develop their campuses.
