A group of techies from Technopark has come up with a film based on religious harmony. The movie, titled Eshal , which will be available on YouTube from February 14, deals with a love story set in a fictitious land involving a Hindu youth and a Muslim girl.
“We are not sending any direct social message. It’s not a Hindu-Muslim story. It is just a love story,” says Nithin Nandhakumar, the director of the movie, who was behind the team’s first short film, Cappucino.
Nithin, who works with Infosys, says the theme popped up during casual conversation. “Set in a fictitious land, where bonds were ruptured by religious riots, the tale is driven by Sudhi and Eshal, and their love for each other.
While Sudhi comes across as a calm and self-assured individual, Eshal is a dreamer who wants to be a writer. Raghavan, Sudhi’s brother, is a tormented soul who has to deal with his own conflicting ideals,” he adds.
Raghavan is against the couple’s relationship but they overcome all obstacles and tie the knot.
The film is of 30 minutes duration and cost around Rs.85,000. Sudhi is played by Sarin Hrishikesan, who works with UST, and Eshal by Minu Jacob, who works with Infosys. The soundtrack of the movie is written and composed by Unnee Udayakumar. Background score is by Jackson Vijayan and sound design by Praveen Sreenivasan.
