Poet, lyricist and filmmaker P. Bhaskaran is all set to get a musical tribute here on September 16 to mark his 10th death anniversary.
Titled ‘Thaliritta Kinaakkal’ after one of his most memorable lines, the programme would see a serious evaluation of P. Bhaskaran the writer and rendering of his songs by prominent singers. The programme, to be inaugurated by former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, is being organised by Dakshina, a cultural organisation based in Chennai.
Dr. P.S. Radhakrishnan, Professor and Dean, School of Letters, Mahatma Gandhi University, would present a paper on P. Bhaskaran at the function, which would be attended by lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi, K. Muralidharan, MLA, Pirappancode Murali, former MLA and writer, Sashi Kumar, chairman, Asian College of Journalism (ACJ), Chennai, music critic T.P. Sasthamangalam, and Dakshina president C.G. Rajendra Babu and secretary S.S. Pillai.
The musical evening is being coordinated by Yatheendradas, filmmaker, V.K. Somasekharan Nair, who had made a documentary on P. Bhaskaran, and C. Rajeev.
