The Art Castle International, a non-profit cultural organization, staged an exhibition of paintings, photographs by international artists in Thiruvananthapuram, to provide an array of creative support services and professional development opportunities for emerging artists in India and to also show the different varieties of photographs and paintings.

Art Castle aims to present diverse platforms, to nurture creative inspiration and cross-pollination of innovative ideas by bringing artists from different parts of the world to work with each other.

Film director Lenin Rajendran, inaugurating the function said, “People with great talent have come here and shown their creative ideas, which reminds me that God has created each one differently”.

The artists who participated were Alicia Piller (USA), Saki Tanaka (Japan), Federico Scarchilli (Italy) and Satheesh Paul (India).

“World is so abstract and each culture has different colours and rhythms,” says artiste Saki Tanaka.

A number of people came to see the exhibition. There were pictures which were taken in complete darkness because it would represent what the unconscious would look like.

These paintings not only attracted artistes and adults, but also children.

Karthik Krishnan, a student of St. Joseph said, “I have never seen such brilliant work, the paintings have inspired me a lot.”

. The dynamic works of paint on canvas, crayon on board and graphic prints had a soothing effect on the visitors who were struck by its introspective subtlety.

“Art ultimately is a personal expression. It is about what happens around the artist that affects him personally that ends up expressed,” says Lenin Rajendran. Apart from paintings and photography there were different types of wall hangings and jewellery made out of organic items.
