Govt. trying to scuttle probe, says Kodiyeri

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Communist Party of India (M) [CPI(M)] State unit secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has alleged that the failure to file charge-sheet before court in the bar bribery scam indicates the government’s move to scuttle the investigation and shield Finance Minister K.M. Mani.

Addressing a Meet-the-Press programme organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club here on Saturday, Mr. Balakrishnan accused Chief Minister Oommen Chandy of meddling in the Vigilance investigation and bypassing the Home Department in seeking legal advice on the charge-sheet against Mr. Mani. The Chief Minister, he said, was preventing the Home Department from functioning independently.

Mr. Balakrishnan called for an independent probe into the solar scam involving the Chief Minister’s Office. The government would fall from power if all the evidence came to light, he said.
