A therapy student at an Ayurveda academy run by a prominent beach resort at Kovalam was found hanging in her hostel room here on Sunday.

According to the Vizhinjam police, Remyamol, 23, a native of Vaikom in Kottayam district, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the academy’s hostel room, which she was sharing with two others, around 10.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Her roommates had gone home on Saturday and Remya was alone, being last seen around 7 p.m. on Saturday by other residents of the hostel.

G. Binu, Circle Inspector, Vizhinjam, said that a suicide note was recovered from the spot, which indicated that a love failure had prompted Remya to resort to the extreme step.

The body, he said, had been shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital’s morgue.

An autopsy would be conducted on Monday before handing the body over to her family.

The Vizhinjam police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
