BJP activists started assembling in large numbers at barricades placed about 500 metres away from the counting centres around 11.30 a.m. after hearing about leads of the party candidates. It was around this time that district in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai came in a car along with other Congress candidates. The activists raised their pitch and some among them reportedly banged the car.

A BJP activist reportedly threw a water bottle towards the car. Police at the spot rushed and eased things.
