The Hindu-Presidency School quiz and spelling bee on November 15

An inter-school spell bee and quiz competition, Presidency Challenge Cup, organised by The Hindu in association with Presidency School, Mangaluru, awaits students here on November 15.

Students from Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring districts can participate in it at Presidency School, Kelrai, Neermarga.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil will inaugurate the contest at 9 a.m.

G. Balasubramaniam, former director, Academic Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi; M.S. Moodithaya, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nitte Deemed to be University; and Giri Balasubramaniam, quiz master, will be the guests at the valedictory at 1.30 p.m.

No entry fee

Students from Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, and Kodagu can participate in the competition, for which there is no entry fee. Any number of teams, comprising two members from class 7 to class 10, may represent a school in the quiz competition. Six best performing teams will be selected for the finals through a written preliminary round.

The quiz will be conducted by Team Pickbrain.

Similarly, a school may nominate any number of students from class 5 and class 6 for the spell bee competition.

A written preliminary will be conducted for individual participants while top performing six students will get qualified for the final round. The spell bee will be conducted by Team Greycaps.

Attractive prizes will be given to the participants.

The winning team in the quiz will get laptops, trophies, and certificates while the runners-up will get Samsung tabs, trophies, and certificates.

A Samsung tab, a trophy, and a certificate will be given to the winner of spell bee while the runner-up will get an Amazon Kindle, a trophy, and a certificate.

Transport facility will be provided from PVS Circle and Ambedkar Circle, near Jyothi theatre, in the city at 8 a.m. for students. Food will be arranged at the venue.

The event is presented by Presidency School, Mangaluru, and V4 News channel is the telecast partner.
