An LPG tanker overturned near Nantoor Junction here in the early hours of Wednesday leading to the police diverting traffic on the bypass road.

According to the police, the tanker that belongs to Bharat Petroleum was on its way from Udupi to Bengaluru. The driver of the tanker lost control over the vehicle after taking a turn at Nantoor Junction at around 4 a.m. The tanker overturned and driver was injured. He was taken to a nearby local hospital for treatment.

The police said that there was no case of leakage of gas. As a precautionary measure, the police diverted traffic going towards Bengaluru and also those vehicles coming into the city. Fire and Emergency Services personnel and representatives of the oil company removed the tanker from the road at around noon after which traffic was restored.
