DYFI seeks probe into murders

October 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MANGALURU:

Democratic Youth Federation of India’s activists on Monday carried out demonstration in front of the office of Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava seeking speedy investigation into two cases of murder that have remained undetected.

DYFI State president Muneer Katipalla said Mr. Bava participated in the demonstration before Assembly Elections demanding arrest of persons involved in the murder of 35-year-old woman and her daughter in Panjimogaru in June, 2011.

Mr. Bava then had accused the Criminal Investigation Department, which had been entrusted with investigation, of not finding the persons involved in the murder and had sought an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths.

Mr. Katipalla said since getting elected Mr. Bava had not spoken a word about the case nor had he reiterated the demand. Similarly, the CID had failed to arrest persons involved in the murder of Rajesh Poojary in Bantwal two years ago. As many as 10 criminal cases relating to district had remained unsolved, he said.

He said Mr. Bava should put pressure on the State government to set up a special police team for cracking the undetected cases.
