Asserting that young talents played a great role in nation building and development, Collector K Veera Raghava Rao has said talented youngsters could achieve success in their careers and contribute to the country’s development only if their talent was coupled with discipline and hard work.

Addressing ‘Inspire’, a science programme, jointly organised by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Mohamed Sathak Engineering College here at Kilakarai on Tuesday, he said talents would blossom into success only if they were combined with hard work and discipline and self confidence.

Pointing that the programme has been organised for meritorious students who had scored more than 470 out of 500 marks in class X, Mr Rao said the students should be aware that this was the first step and they had many more steps to climb up to achieve success.

Discipline, hard work and self-confidence were essential for achieving success as many of those who scored high marks in class X had failed to achieve success in their careers, he said. At the same time, students who failed to score high marks in class X and class XII had succeeded in their careers by way of hard work, he said.

Young talents had a plenty of opportunities to come up in life as India was leading in space, energy and communication technologies. There were plenty of scopes and opportunities in various spheres and the students could emerge successful only if they put in hard work, he said. “Your dreams will be fulfilled provided your talents were added with hard work and discipline,” he said.

Students from various districts attended the five-day programme. J. Abbas Mohaideen, Principal, Mohamed Sathak Engineering College, Vijaya Mohan K.Pillai, former CECRI Director, Prof. K. Lakshmi Bala, IIT (Madras), and Manivanna, CEO, Mohamed Sathak Group of Institutions, were among others addressed the programme.
