A 27-year-old man and his younger brother, riding on a two-wheeler, were killed when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) dashed against the two-wheeler at Okkur near Madhagupatti in the district on Friday.

Police said the siblings identified as C. Bagan Poosari, 27, and C. Chinnakaruppu, 19, of Poolampatti near Singampunari were returning home after visiting the Regional Transport Office (RTO) here, when the SUV coming in the opposite direction dashed against the two-wheeler.

The driver of the SUV, while trying to avoid hitting a man on a moped who came from the side road, lost control and knocked down the deceased. The siblings were thrown off into the roadside ditch and died. While Chinnakaruppan died on the spot, Poosari succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital, police said.

Police said the siblings visited the RTO to collect driving licence for Poosari. In the impact, the SUV overturned on the road and at least three occupants, including the driver, suffered minor injuries, police added.
