Officials gear up for PM’s visit

MADURAI

With the itinerary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Madurai district on Sunday getting finalised, officials have intensified the preparatory arrangements to be made.

On Tuesday, Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar, Collector S. Natarajan, Commissioner of Police S. Davidson Devasirvatham and senior officials inspected the ground in Mandela Nagar where the Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate a slew of government projects and lay the foundation stone for All India Institute of Medical Sciences to come up in Thoppur.

A separate stage will be erected on the same location where he will attend a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party, officials said.

The Collector also chaired a meeting, attended by Madurai Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar, Additional Collector S.P. Amrith, Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Sasi Mohan and senior officials from various departments, to review the arrangements to be made.
