Man hit by train dies

A 60-year-old man was fatally knocked down by a speeding train, while trying to cross the railway track near Viswanathan Nagar in Oddanchatram at 7.15 a.m. on Saturday. The Palani railway police recovered the body and sent it to the Palani government hospital for post-mortem.

“We are yet to identify the deceased person. There was no ID card or cell phone found. The body had injuries on the face and one hand has been severed. We are investigating if it is a suicide or an accident,” said a police official. The police have registered a case.
