A court here has awarded life imprisonment to three brothers in a murder case.
According to prosecution, Selvakumar, 35, of Thammaththukonam attacked Selvaraj, 55, of the same area during a temple festival in 2010, in which the latter suffered a fracture in his hand. Rajakkalmangalam police subsequently registered a case based on a complaint preferred by Mr. Selvaraj.
Against this backdrop, Selvaraj’s sons Manikandan, 31, Ayyappan, 32 and Babu, 34, hacked Selvakumar to death on June 9, 2011 at Thammaththukonan bus stop. Besides arresting the trio, the police also detained their relative, Subhash alias Kannan, 36, also from the same area.
While acquitting Subhash, Additional District Fast Track Court Judge Abdul Khadar awarded life imprisonment to Manikandan, Ayyappan and Babu on Thursday and slapped a fine of ₹5,500 on each convict.
