The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday dismissed the appeal preferred against the reduction of toll fee at Eliyarpatti Toll Plaza.

A Division Bench of Justices K. Ravichandrabaabu and Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy directed the concessionaire, Madurai-Tuticorin Expressways, which had preferred the appeal, to charge 30% less than the stipulated toll fee till the relevant section of National Highway 45 B, connecting Madurai and Thoothukudi, was relaid as per recommended standards.

The court took cognisance of the fact that out of the 128 km stretch that needed to be relaid, work was completed to the extent of 51.98 km. The reduced toll fee would be in force till the remaining portion of the road was relaid, the court said.
