The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday ordered the arrest of paternal grandparents of a three-year-old boy for “playing hide and seek” with the court by not producing the child before the court in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by his mother.
A Division Bench, comprising Justices S. Nagamuthu and V.S. Ravi, directed the High Court Registry to issue a warrant to the Inspector of Pattukottai All Women Police Station in Thanjavur district to arrest the aged couple and produce them before the court on November 17.
The judges also initiated suo motu contempt of court proceedings against the couple for having gone back on the assurance given through their counsel to produce the child in the court on Thursday.
The orders were passed on the HCP filed by a woman from Pattukottai.
