DMK functionary moves court

A Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary has filed a petition in the Madras High Court Bench seeking to register a criminal complaint against All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) MLA, P.V. Kathiravan.

Petitioner M. Ramesh, a former functionary of AIFB, said that he left AIFB and joined DMK on February 18 this year due to difference of opinion between him and Mr Kathiravan.

Provoked by this act, Mr Kathiravan and his supporters assaulted him with an intention of murdering him while he was on the way to attend a function in Koodalnagar on March 17, Mr Ramesh claimed. He sustained head injuries and was given treatment at the Government Rajaji Hospital for three days, he added. The petitioner gave a complaint to the Superintendent of Police in Madurai on March 18 and the complaint was forwarded to the inspector of police in Koodalnagar. “According to Section 154 of Cr.Pc, the police should register a case on any complaint that discloses cognizable offence. But no action has been initiated”, Mr Ramesh stated in his petition.

Therefore, he sought the intervention of the court to direct the police to register a case against Mr Kathiravan.
