Murder of a boy has triggered shock waves among residents.

The police said Kombaiah, 8, son of labourer Thalavai of Kurichikulam near Thaazhaiyooththu went missing on Sunday. As the boy, who had gone out to play with his friends, failed to return home for lunch, Mr. Thalavai and his wife Saroja started searching for him but in vain. Subsequently, he filed a complaint with the police.

Meanwhile, the body of boy was found lying amidst thorny bushes near Vannaanpachcheri tank on Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ponnarasu and his team visited the spot and shifted the body to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a post mortem. Superintendent of Police P Ve Arunshakthikumar also inspected the spot.

The police found that Kombaiah, who was obsessed with mobile phones, would be playing with the boys carrying mobile phones of their parents. When he was playing with a group of boys on Sunday with a mobile phone, some unidentified youth chased them. While Kombaiah was caught, others managed to escape. These youth might have murdered him.
