February 21, 2012 12:32 am | Updated 12:32 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madras High Court Bench here on Monday stayed all further proceedings in a case pending against actor C. Kushbu (40) and a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate for the Assembly elections held last year, K. Vijayan (44), before the District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate court at Natham in Dindigul district.

Passing interim orders in a joint petition filed by the accused, Justice T. Sudanthiram also dispensed with their appearance before the lower court until further orders.

They were accused of using loudspeakers and causing disturbance to the public and violating the election code.

The petitioners alleged that the case had been foisted against them with the sole intention of harassing them.
