Wanted man held

A man wanted in many cases was arrested by Tripunithura police on Wednesday.

Shameer, 38, also known as Mortuary Shameer of Kadavil Veedu, Kozhivettumveli, Eroor, was booked under Section 3 of the Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act and kept under preventive detention for six months at Viyyur Central Prison.

Shameer was imprisoned in 2007 but more cases were registered against him after his release. This called for registering a fresh case against him, police sources said.

At present, Shameer has cases registered against him at Eroor, Thrikkakara and Palarivattom police stations. He was arrested by a police team led by Baiju Poulose M., Circle Inspector, and P.R. Santhosh, sub inspector, from his house.

Three arrested

In another case, three persons were arrested on charges of committing burglaries. They were identified as Shafeeq, also known as Appi Shafeeq of KMP Nagar, Palluruthy; Ashique, also known as Bhootham, of AK Lane, Thoppumpady; and Tinu of Udayamperoor. They have been charged with breaking into the house of Tapasankar, a house surgeon at Tripunithura Ayurveda Hospital, and the apartment of Satheesh Babu, deputy manager of Kochi Refineries.

The accused were identified on the basis of CCTV visuals recorded during a burglary attempt at a house at Puthiyakavu on the night of June 21. Following this the police team arrested the suspects from Kaloor and Mattancherry.
